If you’ve taken any of the Ontario Hospital Association’s Continuing Education courses, it’s likely that you’ve met Marisa Violante.
As the Coordinator of Diploma and Certificate Programs, Marisa develops and oversees the planning, scheduling and promotion of more than 50 annual courses. She also works closely with course instructors, liaises with students and ensures that all programs are executed according to plan.
Marisa joined the OHA in 1997, after graduating from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology with Honours in Business Administration – Human Resources. She has worked in the OHA’s Continuing Education department for 14 years.
These days Marisa is keeping busy with the introduction of two new courses - The Emotionally Intelligent Manager and Leaders Getting Results Through Others, developed in conjunction with the Hay Group, as part of the revised curriculum for the OHA Diploma in Health Care Management.
The courses were developed in response to the growing need for improved talent management planning in the Ontario health services sector - primarily due to the anticipated loss of leadership resulting from retirement; increased pressure for accountability; and concerns regarding maintaining an adequate supply of current and future leaders. In response to this, the OHA and the Hay Group have also developed new Leadership Competencies for Ontario’s health care sector that were shared with OHA members earlier this year.
When Marisa's not busy planning and implementing the OHA’s extensive Continuing Education course curriculum, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
