The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) has received a letter from the Office of the Chief Coroner advising of the availability of the 2010 Annual Report of the Geriatric and Long-Term Care Review Committee.
The Committee reviews coroners’ cases involving elderly residents of acute care and long-term care facilities. The committee provides recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths in the future. The intent of the annual report is to encourage discussion and initiate change on issues relating to geriatric care, such as medical and nursing management, and the use of drugs in the elderly.
Click here to view a copy of the letter. A copy of the full annual report has been posted on the OHA website, and can be found here under the “2010” reports, for hospital review and consideration, as appropriate.
