About the Green Hospital Champion Fund
With the support of the Ontario government through the OntarioBuys initiative, the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) established the GHCF to help Ontario’s hospitals improve their environmental performance and reduce operating costs through the implementation of “green” projects.
The GHCF Audit Program, created to reduce the financial barrier for hospitals seeking to conduct waste audits and energy assessments, and enable hospitals to gather the foundational knowledge of their operations in order to make sound investments in ongoing facility management, was launched on September 30, 2010.
Through this program, hospitals can apply for financial support to cover up to 80% of the cost of a waste audit, or build on the leading incentive programs of Union Gas Limited and Enbridge Gas Distribution, to cover up to 80% of the cost of an energy assessment. The GHCF Audit Program will use the collected data to establish a baseline of Ontario hospitals’ waste and energy performance and share best practices among the hospital community.
