Hospitals planning on purchasing DI equipment in the near-term are encouraged to join the Ontario Hospital Association’s (OHA) Capital Procurement Cooperative (CPC). The CPC’s program will launch with the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) RFP, set to begin in January 2012. With hospitals spending hundreds of millions of dollars annually on capital equipment, increasing their purchasing power by aggregating greater volumes and collaborating on the procurement effort only makes sense.
Building on the success of the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario’s (CAHO), the CPC offers great value to hospitals: collaborative buying and a streamlined procurement process, all while maintaining flexibility for hospitals to evaluate and choose the DI equipment that suits individual hospital requirements. Hospitals can participate in this opportunity either through their Shared Service Organizations (SSOs), or directly, as best suits their individual context.
To help hospitals better understand this first DI RFP, as well as future offerings by the CPC, the OHA has organized a complimentary webcast on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011, from 12:00–1:30 p.m. (EST). Highlights of the event include a discussion of the program’s benefits:
- Professional bid administration service (compliant with the BPS Procurement Directive) provided by a leading public procurement firm;
- The ability to shape the RFP with hospitals’ desired specifications;
- Legal support to expedite preparation of contracts;
- A fixed, below-cost participation fee for each individual procurement a hospital joins; and
- An engagement methodology that ensures stakeholders’ needs are heard and met.
