Director recruitment is often event driven: the annual meeting is fast approaching; there are vacancies on the board that need to be filled; quick consideration is given to who can quickly be tapped into serving as a Director or who owes the organization a favour. It’s not surprising that many boards don’t feel they’re ideally equipped to fulfill their responsibilities.
Working within whatever restrictions may be required by such things as the organization’s by-laws, boards should consider undertaking an effective process to help ensure an optimal mix of skills and experience.
The Building a High-Performing Board: Best Practices in Director Recruitment Webcast will take place on January 31, 2012.
Participants will receive a clear understanding of the core competencies required for the position, the role of the Board Chair and Nominations Committee and elements of an effective recruitment and orientation process.
