Online learning offers students a variety of advantages such as self-paced education, reduced travel expenses and access to high quality education. However, there are certain elements of face-to-face education that online learning cannot replicate, suchj as networking and camaraderie among students. Some of the best courses provide students the benefits of both educational formats, where the online component introduces the audience to the topic and the classroom portion functions like a tutorial.
The Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and the Leading Edge Group have partnered to provide a blended learning (classroom and online) course, Lean Health Care Green Belt.
This course harnesses the best elements of both face-to-face interaction and online learning. During the course, students receive access to an online learning management system in addition to attend five classroom tutorials. The tutorials explore the program content and how it relates to the participants and their organizations as well as discussing the Green Belt improvement projects which students undertake as part of the program.
